Winter weather

With the Winter months upon us, we have to deal with the cold
wet weather. We can’t all just take a long vacation in the Bahamas.
That being said, a good portion of us will have to deal with snow
and ice. With ice comes power outages.

We have to prepare our family’s for the possibility of being out
out power for a few hours or a few days, sometimes even week’s.
For those who only have an electric stove, it’ll be more difficult
to cook meals for the family. Some folk’s have a fire pit they
can cook with outside, but those that don’t, it would be a good
idea to pick up an outside grill or a portable stove. There are
many different types that you can get, all of which you would have
to use outside, since they burn fuel. They have some that can
burn one type of fuel, or multiple type’s of fuel such as this
Gas One Dual Fuel Portable Propane & Butane stove It operates on a single 8oz Butane cartridge or a 16.4oz Propane cylinder. You would also want to have some candle’s or Kerosene lamp’s in order to light up the room. Be sure to have a few flashlight’s with battery’s to help you find stuff in the dark, make sure you
have them in places that you can find them easily, like a dresser
drawer or kitchen drawer. It is also wise to have a package of
lighter’s or a box of matches in a drawer that you can use to
light the candle’s or lamp’s.

It is good to have a bag of rock salt or ice melt and a shovel,
to be able to clear walkway’s outside, so you don’t slip and fall.
You should always have a case or two of water stored away in your
coat closet or basement, They say a person needs a half-gallon of
a day to stay hydrated, or a gallon a day for drinking and washing
up with. Toilet paper is something that we all use, I suggest that
you keep at least a week’s supply of toilet paper ready for when
the ice comes and it is not safe to drive to the store. Who want’s
to run out of toilet paper when you really need it?

I will explain ways that my family is able to stock up on certain
things in another blog post, but for now, I would definitely get
prepared for winter if you haven’t done so already. Remember, if
you find this information useful, be sure to share it with your
friend’s. As always Stay safe and stay Prepared.
