HyperTough Dual-Power Inflator

I bought the HyperTough Dual-Power Inflator system a few months back and boy did it save me when I needed it.

I’m sure we’ve all seen the dreaded low tire pressure light on the dash when we get into the vehicle and are late for work.

That’s never a fun time. Add to that you just had a nasty winter storm that came through and all of the tire inflator systems at the gas stations don’t work because the coin slots are froze, or the card reader is offline.

Lovely little ball of stress to start the day off with eh?

HyperTough Dual-Power Inflator

What sold me on it was the dual-power option, not only can I use the 12v plugin in the vehicle but I can also use the extension cord plugged into the wall when I’m at home.

It is nice and compact, it will easily slip under your seat or store it in the trunk.

It states on the box that you can inflate a tire from 0 to 35psi in under 6 minutes plugged into the wall or 6.5 minutes plugged into a 12v outlet.

This unit does has a small LED light as well. This will be helpful when you run into a flat at night on the side of the road with no street light in sight!

The easy to read digital display is nice compared to the analog gauges plus once it gets to the set psi it automatically shuts off the air supply.

Pros

  • Compact
  • LED light
  • Dual-Power (12v vehicle & 120v wall)
  • It can inflate up to 100psi
  • Digital display
  • Comes with adapters to inflate balls for sports
  • Easy to screw on to the valve stem
  • Once you screw the hose onto the valve stem the display shows the current PSI
  • Different Modes: PSI, bar, and kPa

Cons

  • It’s difficult to get the electric cords to go back in the compartment
  • Noisy
  • The inflator hose could be longer

Directions

Plug the unit into either the 12v vehicle outlet or a wall outlet (extension cord). Then flip the switch to the corresponding energy source that is located next to the wall plugin cable inlet on the side of the unit.

You’ll want to set the mode to your desired setting. PSI is what we use here in the States and it is already selected out of the box but you can also choose from bar and kPa.

Now set the desired pressure amount. For my car the vehicle recommends 34psi but my truck wants 44psi. It is pretty simple to change the desired pressure by using the + and – buttons on the front of the unit. The display will update accordingly.

Once you’ve set the desired pressure amount, go ahead and screw on the inflator hose to the valve stem on the tire. Make sure you don’t have the unit around standing water, this could cause it to malfunction if it gets wet or blow the fuse.

This will show you the current pressure the tire is at. If you need to add more pressure just push the power button icon to the right of the – button. This will start inflating your tire. If you need extra light push the far left button to toggle the LED off and on.

This unit can be quite noisy so keep that in mind.

Once the tire has reached the desired pressure the unit will stop inflating the tire. You can then unscrew the inflator hose from the valve stem. It is always best to go ahead and check out the rest of your tires to make sure they don’t need topped off with some more air.

Thats it. Nice and simple. Don’t forget to replace the valve stem cap for each tire.

The inflator hose is easy to put back into the compartment. The power cable on the other hand isn’t as easy. What I’ve don’e is just put the wall plugin cable for it in a drawer with it marked as to what it goes to. This gives more space to put the 12v cable back into the compartment with ease.

Conclusion

I highly recommend this unit and I will be getting another one for the truck so I can have them in both vehicles if the need ever comes.

I’ve changed tires and had to put the spare on a time or two over the years and wouldn’t you know it, the spare was flat…

Sure you can periodically check the spare to make sure it is properly inflated from time to time but stuff happens and it could be fine one day and flat when you need it.

This is an item you need to have in your vehicle!
