How we stock up on stuff

We may earn money or products from the companies or products mentioned or linked to in this post.

We don’t wait until a snow storm is coming to hit the store. What
we like to do is every payday, pick up a package of toilet paper
and a case of water, even if we don’t necessarily need it. It
allows us to be able to slowly build up a surplus of things.

With shopping for foods, we always pick up an extra can or two
of things that we eat often. Doing so gives us a financial
cushion in the sense that we don’t have to rush to the store to
grab everything that we need right before a storm is coming,
odds are that everyone else would be doing the same thing
because they didn’t learn how to prepare for things in advance.

In doing that, the stores often run out of supplies quick and
chances of you getting the things that you need to feed and take
care of your family are slim. That is why it is best to do what
we do. You don’t have to do it every payday, but if you allow
yourself to be able to stock up on the main things that you
go through, like food and water, even toilet paper and other
essentials.

Medicines are a bit tricky, some you can get a 3
month supply of, but pain killer’s and other narcotics are very
hard to get more than what you need for a certain amount of time.
That is due to the fact that people have been abusing pain
killer’s or selling what they have to people for money.

But as far as other medication’s like most heart medicines, thyroid
medications, allergy medication’s and some blood pressure
medications some Dr’s will get you a prescription for 2 to 3
months worth of medicine.

With gas, we always put $50 on a Walmart gift card every payday.
I get paid every week, we go through about $40 worth of gas a week. So
by putting a little extra than what we use each week, it allows
us to be able to build up a cushion that’ll come in handy one
day.

If you were to have a family emergency or something else
unexpected, you will already have a cushion to fall back on. It
would be one less stressful thing to have to worry about
during hard time’s.

We have an almost 10 month old son, so we have to buy wipes and
diapers, as well as a good amount of baby food’s and snack’s.
We always the higher quantity with diaper’s and wipe’s. Instead
of buying the cheapest package of diaper’s or wipe’s, we buy the
big box’s.

It is more expensive at the time, but if you think
about it, you will save in the long run. You’re going to go through
the same amount, so if you were to, lets say buy a package of
40 diapers for $10, which set’s right next to a package of 100
diapers for $20, you would be spending more money on the cheap
package because you would be using the same amount of diapers,
but paying more for them because your buying what you need when
you need it.

Although the bigger package cost’s more up, you will
see that in doing so, you will actually save money. It is the same
with wipes, we buy the bigger box with the higher quantity. It
allows us to be able to have a surplus of them.

If your like us, if you’re not working, you’re not making money for
your family. So if you were to get sick or hurt and can’t work,
that can make things hard to get what you need to get by. That
is why we do what we do to be able to make sure that we have a
small surplus of items that we need.

It allows us to be able to take a day off if we are sick and it gives us time to try
and get rest to get to feeling better.

Every family is different, so you should make a list of what you
go through every week or every payday and keep track of it for a
month or so, be sure to keep track of the amount that you go
through.

This will allow you to see how much you will go through
in a given time period, it is always a good idea to have at the
minimum of two pay period’s worth of supplies. If your able to,
I would make sure you have at least a 2 month supply of what
you have found that you go through.

Layoff’s happen, and companies close their door’s every day. If you allow yourself to build a small stockpile of the things that you go through,
it will relieve a lot of stress, worrying about how your going
to make it through, until your able to find another job.
