Outdoor Cooking Supplies

Since this month I wanted to go over things to do with camping, I thought what
could be more important than being able to cook your food and boil your water!

There are many different item’s you can use to get the job done, but everyone
is different in their need’s and want’s! Everyone that ventures outdoors will need some Outdoor Cooking Supplies!

You know, if you’re going out on a hike you’ll need light compact item’s. If you are going in a bumper pull camper, then you don’t really need to worry about the weight so much. Like I mentioned before, every person’s need’s are different from everyone else.

What works best?

In my opinion, you can never go wrong with Cast Iron, with that being said, you don’t really want to be lugging around a bunch of Cast Iron cooking pan’s as they are not light.

Thankfully in this day and age there are many alternative’s to bring along on your outdoor adventures!

The Rocket Stove!

Have you heard of the rocket stove? Well it is nice and compact and very easy to work with, the only downside is that you do not have that much cooking space as that stove is quite small.

It would be great for a hiking trip for one or two people, but if you are planning on using it for a family get together, you might want to re-think it. Sure it would work out for you, but with the limited space, you will be cooking all day!

Campfire Tripod!

If you want to go the traditional route, you can get a Tripod! You can get one that will allow you to hook a pot to with a chain and hang over the fire pit.

You can also get one that will allow you to hang a grill grate up with. Either way you go you can use a pot or a grill with them.

They can be fairly light weight or heavy. With anything that you buy for camping or hiking, the more you spend the better the quality and weight. Cheap stuff is usually reliable, but they will add much more weight to your pack.

Compact mess kit!

These are usually fairly light and inexpensive. They are great to throw in your pack to go on a long hike or camping trip with.

One that seems to have everything that you need this cookware set
Although I have never used this brand before, I have used similar, but this is much lighter than the one’s I’ve used before.

Weighing in at 1.17 lbs it is quite light and cheap. The cookware set come’s with 1 pan, 2 bowls, a 1-liter pot with lid, a ladle, a wooden spatula, a spork, a cleaning sponge and a drawstring carrying case.

The pot and pan are made to be non-stick so cleanup should be a breeze!

Gas one Dual Fuel Stove!

The Gas One dual fuel stove is perfect for camping! With the ability to use an 8oz Butane cartridge or a 16.4oz Propane cylinder

With a built-in electric ignition, you don’t need to worry about having a lighter or match to ignite the stove.

The stove itself is just over 3lbs so it is fairly lightweight, but that isn’t including the butane or propane. The nice thing is that if you use this in cold weather then you can switch over to the propane really easy!

There are similar one’s on the market that doesn’t come with the adapter hose for using the Propane, but the one I linked to above come’s with the adapter!

This would be perfect to use the above mentioned mess kit! A 10″-13″ skillet will work just fine with this burner. I wouldn’t go much bigger than that, Diagonally the burner grill is 11″. If you are using butane, I wouldn’t go with anything over 10″ or 11″ pot/pan as anything bigger could cause an issue with reflecting too much heat back onto the butane canister. But if you are using a Propane bottle you will be fine to use a bigger pot/pan!
