Today I would like to talk about the things I used while OTR, as far as
cooking and food storage. I first started out with a small
lunchbox like heater, RoadPro 12-Volt Portable Stove , I started out with
that and RoadPro Aluminum Pans for the 12-Volt Portable Stove .
I would stop off at
Wal-Mart’s that allowed trucks to park there, I would shop on my
break, I would get mostly canned foods, like beans and stews. I
decided to go ahead and grab me a cooler, but I didn’t want to
have to stop off and grab bags of ice when I stopped for fuel, so I did some looking around and decided on a Coleman 40 Quart Powerchill Thermoelectric Cooler.
I Love it! I’m no longer OTR, I’m home daily on a local account,So I don’t use it as often as I did OTR, but whenever I do use
it, it can still cool as well as it did when I first bought it.
It allowed me to be able to grab some milk for cereal, lil smokies, some burrito’s to cook in the cooker, I would wrap them in aluminum foil. I still ate the beans and stew as well as a number of
other things. It made life on the road a lot cheaper, stopping off
to get a bite to eat at the truck stop would average me about
$400 to $600 a month. It got quite expensive. I would suggest
these item’s to any OTR driver’s for sure. It also wouldn’t
hurt to have them in your personal vehicle, for those long
road trips to see the in-laws or going on a Vacation.
