I remember when I was a kid my family would go on camping trip’s almost every summer. We would travel to other state’s sometimes to find the best campgrounds. Well since were from Oklahoma, I thought I would tell you about the best campgrounds in Oklahoma!

Bernice State Park

In Northeast Oklahoma, the best park to camp at in my opinion would be the Bernice State Park! Located in the northwestern part of Grand Lake you’ll find the Crappie Capital of the World!

Now with me, I’ve never fished for Crappie but it is pretty popular in the area. I prefer Catfish!

This park has a vast amount of fish including Catfish, Large mouth Bass, Gar and even Drum. There are many more species in the water as well! I’ve noticed that there were a lot of turtle’s in the water, they love to get on your hook…

With Recreational Vehicle pad’s and tent campsite’s, you’ll feel welcome! They also offer shower’s, picnic area’s, a playground for your little one’s, a boat ramp and dock, a Nature trail that is paved the full mile for those who like to walk/jog, and a Nature center!

There are also two watch tower’s! I have not been up in the watch tower’s or on the nature trail myself but from what I hear it is sure worth it!

With a selection of 150 camp sites and 33 RV site’s you’re sure to find the perfect spot for you and your family! The RV sites also provide a water hook up and 50 amp outlet’s!

I prefer fishing on the bridge just west of the State park, sure you have to walk a decent distance if you cant find parking along the roadside, but it is worth it!

The pricing plan

Tent sites are $14
Rv sites are $27
RV sites for seniors 62+ are $25
Those that are 100% disabled you’ll only pay $20 for your RV site

The pricing can change without notice so be sure to check them out before you get there!

Robbers Cave State Park

In Southeast Oklahoma, the best park in my opinion would be Robbers Cave! Located in the Sans Bois Mountains, this park is excellent for hikers, rappellers and anyone who loves the outdoors!

For those outlaws out there Jesse James and Belle Starr used it as a hideout back in the day!

The State Park takes up 8,246 acres with 189 combines lake acres! Lake Carlton, Lake Wayne Wallace and Coon Creek!

Now I have not been here in some year’s but it was quite memorable! With 22 modern RV sites, 67 RV sites with water and electric, 86 Camping sites along secluded trails as well as some Equestrian campsites!

Don’t want to rough it outside? You can choose from a lake hut, cabins, yurts, lodge and two camp facilities!

The lodge contains 20 rooms with a lovely view of Coon Creek Lake and the forest below! Each room can house up to four guests! No pets are allowed in the Lodge rooms!

A total of 26 Cabins are also available at the State Park! Each cabin comes with a refrigerator, microwave, coffee pot, some pots and pans, a range and even satellite TV as well as much more!

You can ask to have your pets inside for a daily fee, you’ll need to make that clear when you reserve the cabin!
